Imex staff go the distance in the Marathon and raise over £14,000!

After months and months of training, our 5 Marathon runners finally set off on their 26 Mile run to raise £10,000 for our chosen Charity, Barretstown.

Upon crossing the finish line at last weekend's London Marathon there were a lot of tired faces but thanks to their efforts, along with a number of other fundraising initiatives, we managed to exceed our target and ended up raising over £14,000 for the charity, which is based in Co. Kildare, Ireland!

It was our Marathon runners' initial willingness to run the Marathon that proved to be the catalyst for our fundraising effort and without their dedication and hard work then we really wouldn't have been able to make such a vital contribution to the Barretstown cause. Our thanks go out to them as well as our fantastic staff, customers, suppliers and friends whose support and donations have helped us greatly along the way.

Our London Marathon team of Neil Whitehouse (depot supervisor, Birmingham), Darren Plant (depot supervisor, Weybridge), Dean Potter (warehouse technician), Antony Pickering (parts interpreter), and Antony's wife Jo, put in hours of training and it is great to know all their hard work has really paid off!

"There were many times I wanted to throw in the towel, especially on those cold and wet nights when I would have preferred nothing more than to sit in the warmth and watch a bit of telly! However, thanks to all your support we all kept going, and we are proud to have done our bit for such a worthwhile cause." - Antony Pickering, parts interpreter

Weybridge Depot Supervisor Darren Plant added, "Having ran a marathon before I knew what to expect - dehydration, fatigue, and a body afterwards that wouldn't recover for 6 weeks! This time was no exception, and whilst the pain was worse than before, it was all worth it thanks to the money that was raised. This has been very special and I, along with the rest of the team, am proud to have been a part of it".

Our congratulations go out to our runners and a huge thank you to all those who supported us.
